Family Day Hikes and Scavenger Hunt

We can’t gather, but we can enjoy all The Bluffs has to offer!

This year, we won’t be able to host Fire & Ice for Family Day, so we’ve set up a new way to explore our community, and spend time with your family!

We’ve chosen a handful of areas to hike in and hopefully you’ll find something new!

Some hikes are easy and accessible, others are a bit more challenging. You may chose to enter the scavenger hunt as well. We’ll have a random draw for prizes for those that send in photos.

Scavenger Hunt and Hike rules

  • Choose a hike (all will be found within Birch Cliff, Cliffside or Cliffcrest)
  • Explore at your own convenience – it doesn’t have to be Family Day itself
  • Be careful as some trails and pathways may be slippery, muddy or steep
  • Please only stick to the path and obey all signs
  • Send your photos at events@sbca.ca by the end of day Feb 15 to be entered in our random draw (prizes to be announced soon)
  • Take photos of interesting things and have fun!
  • BONUS – if you have one of our new toques or hoodies – make sure you wear your swag!
  • To be considered for an entry in our draw, we can only accept email submissions. We may post submissions under a #SBCAFamilyDay post on Instagram or Facebook.

Back by popular demand!

Our Toque and Hoodie fundraiser

We had a number of people inquire about hoodies and toques, so we’ve decided to offer them again! We’ll be fundraising for future events (whether online or in-person when we’re able), or to further help our community as needed.

We prefer that donations are accepted via e-transfer (details in form) and we’ll be offering contactless pickup/delivery in February.

Bluffscapes 2020 results!

Winners announced!

The SBCA and the Birchcliff Garden Club, are delighted to announce this year’s 2020 Winners of our “fun and friendly” Bluffscapes Front Yard Garden Contest. The contest was open to all residents of Birchcliff, Cliffside and Cliffcrest, showcasing beautiful front gardens that are roadside visible.

We encouraged the community to beautify their own little pieces of our neighbourhood. This wonderful opportunity allowed participants to showcase their front gardens and the hard work they’ve been putting in during the pandemic to keep themselves busy during lockdown!

Judges consisted of members of the Birchcliff Garden Club and the Scarborough Bluffs Community Association. Judging took place in early September and the submitted garden entries were simply wonderful!

Our winners:

First place: 101 South Edgely Ave.
Second Place: 26 Springbank Road
Third Place: 56 North Bonnington Ave

“I am proud of my front garden and tend to it regularly because I enjoy people walking by to admire it and see what is new that is blooming. During this pandemic time I have met a lot of new neighbours who are making a point of coming by on their walks.”
Our first place winner!

The SBCA would like to thank ALL the participants who entered gardens in the contest.  Without the participation of our community we would not be able to bring community together to celebrate our own little pocket of the City.  We are proud to be able to offer these events in Southwest Scarborough and look forward to hosting more when we are able to come together again!

The SBCA and the Birchcliff Garden Club would like to give a shout out to and thank our awesome Community and Prize sponsors for continuing to support our community events:
